The Davidson County Agricultural Fair is a fall tradition in Lexington. Every high school senior knows what happens on Thursday night during fair week: the Miss Davidson County Fair Pageant or “Barn Queen” for short. For those not familiar with the pageant, each local high school in the county choses a senior young lady as its representative. These young ladies compete through one on one interviews, a review of their extra curricular activities, and, finally, interview questions in front of the crowd gathered in the “barn”. A three judge panel determines the winner. Each high school supports its “queen” with custom t-shirts, banners, posters and lively cheers.
This year North Davidson was represented by Miss Hannah Mercer. Earlier this year she won the title of Miss North Davidson, as voted on by the senior class. Hannah is a down-to-earth, active (she plays four varsity sports), very articulate young lady who represents North Davidson High School and the community very well.
